Getting Started With School

I decided to pursue and complete my bachelors degree years ago. I knew I wanted to do creative work that involved digital media, and, I also knew I was going to have to complete my coursework online. It took a few years before I decided to enroll at Full Sail University. I was looking at the programs in Full Sail and decided to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Animation.

Regardless of the program you choose, the process of becoming a Full Sail University student was quite easy. Everything I needed to do, I was able to complete online. However, I chose to call in to Admissions in order to ensure I completed all the necessary forms and submitted the required documents to expedite my application process.

  1. The first thing is to fill out Full Sail University’s online application where you enter your personal details, some background information, your degree preferences, verify and acknowledge the information you entered, pay deposits and application fees, and, submit the application.
  2. After the initial submission, a Student Enrollment Advisor will contact you to confirm your submission and to guide you in completing any additional requirements through the enrollment portal.
  3. A Financial Aid Advisor will contact you regarding completing your FAFSA and applying for any additional grants and scholarships available.
  4. When all your paperwork is completed and submitted, you will receive notification on the enrollment portal to register for FSO and instructions to take your orientation. I highly recommend taking your orientation right away so you begin classes on the upcoming month without issue.
  5. You will also receive a phone call from your Student Liaison to confirm that you completed your orientation. Student Liaisons will serve as your guide in the first few months of your class. Your Student Liaison will advise your of your probationary period where you can withdraw from school without penalty. Student Liaisons will also contact you periodically, especially in anticipation of a challenging class in your schedule.
  6. It is beneficial to apply for a Student ID card in order to get student discounts on supplies from some stores local to you. I use mine at our local art supplies store, on Thrive Market and the Student Beans Online.
  7. Before class starts and depending on your degree program, there will be a package in the mail that will contain any supplies and equipment you may need for your first few classes.
  8. When class starts on Monday 12:00AM, it is important that you log-in as early as possible to Full Sail University Online portal to create your weekly schedule, register for the Live Lectures and save it to your calendar, and, begin your classwork,
  9. Around your 4th or 5th class month, you should receive a notice regarding Project LaunchBox, a technology package that includes pre-selected equipment required for your degree program.

The steps above are general steps I took to get started at my university as an online student. Perhaps, on-campus registration is a much different journey that online. My best recommendation would be to contact the university and schedule a tour.
