At the writing of this post, youtube buzzed with the anticipated release of Procreate 5.0. After seeing a few videos on functionality and utility of its beta version, I finally tried to animate with the current version.
I animated a simple 2D natural ball bounce and added a ball toss at the first few frames. I started with drawing the a circle and filling it with the familiar color of a handball from my youth. I proceeded with sketching the hand, a skill which I am has a vast room for improvement.
I started with the hand throw a animation adding an exaggeration as an antic at the very beginning and at the end of the hand toss. In between, I added the major poses then in betweened them. I proceeded to creating the arcs for the ball bounce and approached the rest of the animation pose-to-pose.
After I was happy with the drawings, I numbered the layers in order from 1-the last number of my frame. From this process, I doubled up on a few layers/frames at the beginning of the animation and discovered that Procreate 4.3.9 has a limit of 61 layers hence 61 frames. Fortunately, the background doesn’t count as a layer.
